- The coloration is achieved naturally by soaking the rattan in rice paddy fields, where the earthy tones are absorbed by the rattan fibres. The result is a soft grey yellow coloration with a warm beige undertone. After the rattan has dried and aired out, a clear protective coating is applied to seal the rattan canes and reduce splitting. As this is a natural coloration technique, color variations and fading are to be expected.
